This mug is wheel thrown with stoneware clay. After throwing and trimming is done, I add the handle to the body of the mug and make sure the mug is smooth as silk before firing. After the bisque firing I clean the mug again and then glaze with a deep cobalt blue. After the glaze firing the real fun begins. I hand paint 23k gold leaves around the mug and the handle, and fire one final time to create this drop dead gorgeous mug.

-23k gold luster (not microwave safe) I recommend hand washing gold luster pieces to extend the gold's life, but I personally put my mugs with gold luster in my dishwasher and they come out just fine.
